Fundamentals

Delivery and Privacy

Understand background delivery, updates, retries, and removal.

Public Content Only

Republic checks public visibility before sending. Followers-only, deleted, hidden, sensitive, and moderation-restricted posts are not forwarded. An unavailable quoted or reposted original is not exposed through its wrapper.

Updates and Removal

Republic attempts to edit mirrored messages when source or quoted content changes, and to remove mirrors when the source is deleted or restricted. These operations require valid registered Discord credentials.

Pausing a destination or unfollowing an account stops new deliveries. Cleanup of existing mirrors can continue. Deleting the registration removes its credentials: existing Discord messages remain, and cleanup stops. Republic cannot withdraw copies saved or shared elsewhere.

Retries and Rate Limits

Transient failures are retried in the background. Discord rate limits delay the affected destination; a global Discord limit can delay all destinations. Rejected credentials mark a registration invalid until its URL is replaced.

Delivery is not exactly once. If Discord accepts a message but its response is lost, a retry can create a duplicate. There is no fixed delivery-time guarantee. Paused, restricted, or invalid destinations do not receive new content.
